The Spinner program, designed for young people in Ida-Virumaa, invites high school students and university students to participate. The program offers young people aged 16 to 30 the opportunity to join a hackathon, attend trainings, and gain practical experience in successful Estonian companies.
More than 600 young people have already participated in the program and gained valuable experience. The results speak for themselves: program participants have founded their own companies, achieved career success, and even secured jobs at the companies where they interned as part of the Spinner program.
Spinner is not just an entrepreneurship development program, it is a significant step toward building a sustainable future for Ida-Virumaa and all of Estonia. The program’s goal is to help the youth address the challenges of the region and create new opportunities. The focus is on “green” and sustainable entrepreneurship, aligning with Estonia’s climate goals and the transition to eco-friendly business models.
Spinner helps young people discover opportunities in tech startups and the creative economy, offering 2-3 week internships in leading Estonian companies. Participants are immersed in the daily life of innovative companies, gaining skills and knowledge that support their career opportunities and help them start their own businesses in the future.
Over the years, the Spinner program has been a springboard for many young people, helping them find their calling. The program gives participants the confidence to make informed choices about their future, explore new opportunities, and turn their dreams into reality.
Spinner Hackathon - New Challenges and Opportunities
On October 5, a Spinner hackathon will be held at the Narva Estonian High School (NERG).
The hackathon will bring together creative and entrepreneurial young people who are eager to take a step toward a more sustainable and eco-friendly future.
During the hackathon, participants will have the opportunity to:
• Develop their ideas with the help of experienced mentors;
• Find like-minded individuals and start joint projects;
• Learn how to create successful startups.
The hackathon is suitable for both beginners and those with entrepreneurial experience. Regardless of experience, every participant will be able to make important steps toward realizing their business idea. The best team will be awarded a prize of €1,000.
The law firm Hedman is contributing to the organization of the Spinner hackathon. Hedman’s managing partner and sworn advocate, Merlin Seeman, is also one of the founders of kood/Jõhvi. “I come from a small town in Estonia and understand very well how important it is for young people to have the opportunity to engage in initiatives that allow them to get acquainted with the real working world and meet top professionals in their field. This gives them the courage to develop themselves and aim for big goals. For Hedman, contributing to the promotion of youth entrepreneurship is very important, and we are pleased to be part of a project that supports young people in discovering their entrepreneurial spirit and helps them set their goals and direction,” said Seeman. The organization of the hackathon is also supported by the Energia Discovery Centre, and the Spinner project team expresses its gratitude to Energia Discovery Centre, represented by its CEO, Darja Saar.
The Spinner project is implemented by the Baltic Innovation Agency, Beamline Accelerator, and the Ida-Virumaa Creative Economy Center as part of project No. 2021-2027.6.01.24-0372, co-financed by the European Union.
